Estate & downsizing · Westport, MA

Estate clearing & downsizing in Westport.

Westport's farms, shore homes, and family properties hold a lifetime apiece. We're licensed on both sides of the line and handle the whole home, start to finish.

A calm conversation, no obligation. We'll tell you exactly how we'd handle it.

The South Coast we've called home for generations.

A whole life doesn't fit in a single hard week.

Westport is farmland, river, and shore. Its homes tend to come with land, outbuildings, and the accumulation of a family that's worked the place for years. Maybe a parent has passed, and the house is full of decades you can't bring yourself to open. Maybe it's time to move Mom somewhere smaller and safer, and a lifetime won't fit through the new front door. Either way the list is endless, the family is scattered across states, and the clock is running.

You don't have to fly in for a week to face it. We become your eyes, your hands, and your judgment on the ground, an extension of the family, and handle the whole situation: what the house needs before it can sell, and watching over it while it sits empty, so a dead AC or a hard freeze never becomes the disaster you learn about too late.
Everything, start to finish

One team for the whole home.

Most families have to hire a sorter, an appraiser, a mover, and a realtor, and coordinate all four through the worst month of the year. We bring all four together, so you make one call.

01

Sort & decide

We go room by room with you: what to keep, what to pass down, what to let go. Nothing that matters gets lost in the rush, and you never touch a box you don't want to.

02

Value what's worth it

A credentialed appraiser tells you what the antiques, art, jewelry, and collections are truly worth, and finds the right buyer for each, instead of letting it go for nothing.

03

Move it, or clear it

Every move is performed by Long Moving & Storage, the family-owned and fully insured company run by John's brother Perry Long, a separate business we work hand in hand with. We pack, transport, and set up the new place, or empty the house entirely and leave it broom-clean and ready to sell.Long Moving & Storage · Perry Long's family company · fully insured

04

Ready it & sell it

We tell you straight what the house needs, from a failing septic to a tired roof, and what's worth fixing versus selling as-is. Then we list and sell it, the largest piece by far, with 200+ home sales and thirteen years on this coast behind it.

How it works

Three steps, and the weight is ours.

1

One call

Tell us what you're facing. We'll come walk the home with you, free, and no obligation.

2

We make the plan

A clear, written plan: timeline, what's worth what, what it costs, what the home should sell for.

3

We handle it

Sorted, valued, moved, sold. You get updates, not tasks. You show up to sign at the end.

How we charge

Clear before we start.

The home sale is a standard real estate commission, the same as any listing. Everything else, the sorting, valuing, moving, and clearing, is quoted in the written plan before any work begins. You see the full picture up front, and there are no surprises.

Why families call us

One family. One coast. One call.

This isn't a franchise that flew in. We were raised on this water and have worked it for four generations. When you hand us a home, you're handing it to neighbors.

John Long, founder of Long Estate Co.
Who you're handing the keys to

Meet John Long.

I've spent thirteen years and more than two hundred home sales helping South Coast families through the biggest moves of their lives. Somewhere in there I realized the house was only ever half of it. The harder half came first: the lifetime of belongings, the decisions no one feels ready to make, the moving, the grief. And most families were left to carry all of it alone, in the worst month of their year.

So I built Long Estate Co. to be the one team that does the whole thing. My brother Perry's moving company, Long Moving & Storage, handles every move, a separate, family-owned and fully insured business we work hand in hand with. I handle the home sale and coordinate every piece in between, with a trusted appraiser for anything of value. One family, one call, from the first hard day to the closing table.

I was raised on this coast and I'm not going anywhere. When I walk into your parents' home, I treat it the way I'd want someone to treat mine.

A family business

We learned this on our own home first.

Long Estate Co. is a husband-and-wife business, John and Kelley Long, with the family's roots on this coast going back generations.

Before we ever did this work for another family, we lived it ourselves, at 2042 Main, our family's home on the harbor at Westport Point. We carried the whole weight of it, the sorting, the deciding, the letting go, and learned firsthand how much a family needs someone steady beside them.

That is the reason this company exists. So the next family doesn't have to do it alone.
